After one and a half months, we are settling into 2015. I have even stopped writing 2014 on forms! This year has new challenges and opportunities in store. I am very excited to say that I have begun working for the MS Society as the Development Coordinator! In a nut shell it means I am planning events to help raise funds. What this really means is that I seek and acquire the funds needed to provide important programs, such as community outreach, volunteer legal advocacy, and equipment funding. At the MS Society 50% of funds go to these services and the other 50% to research. These are services that I am proud to say I am helping to support! Additionally, 2014 will see some exciting new changes for SwimMS.
Many people are aware that SwimMS has announced its continuation in 2015! Our team has been so overwhelmed by the generosity and enthusiasm in the community, and we want to keep things going! This year we are inviting a very select amount of relay teams to participate. All swimmers will be asked to raise awareness and donations. This year will hopefully also bring some new relationships from local businesses either through sponsorship or active participation (get your goggles out). All of these changes come from our goal to increase funds from last years $15,600 to $20,000. This seems daunting, but is worth while to achieve the big goal - ending MS!
SwimMS: August 15th 2015
Please check back for fun events prior to the 12 hour marathon!
*All proceeds from SwimMS will go to research by way of the MS Society
