4 Month Count Down!
I had been thinking about this event for years - dreaming up where my swim might be, and how much money I would be able to raise for the MS Society. At this very time last year, I was finally given the push to turn a dream into a reality.
It's incredible how quickly this year has gone. When I started training, swimming more than 1.5/2k was a challenge...as was implementing pace times. Thanks to the help of my training partners and my coach, John, I am feeling as though this challenge in manageable. Not to say that I am not nervous. I am terrified. I can't say I have ever swam for 12 hours straight before, and anyone who has recertified waterfront NLS with me knows hypothermia is highly likely. I think that is the part that scares me the most. If I train well and am physically ready to go, can my temperature sensitivity ruin me? Possibly. I do know that I won't give up. The plan is to take a 10 minute break every 3 hours. That may be adjusted slightly. But I do promise that from 7am - 7pm you know where to find me. After a year of preparing, these are the scary, challenging thoughts I have sometimes...Does anyone know of an all you can eat potato bar?
Regardless of these thoughts, I am working hard at training my mind, as well as my body. Only 4 months left to go!
